Congratulations to Dr. Laura Bierut for winning the Langley Award. The 2018 Langley Award for Basic Research on Nicotine and Tobacco is awarded by the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT). The Langley Award is named in honor of John Newport Langley (1852-1925), who described the concept of receptors on cells that bind transmitters and thus initiate biologic processes. This award honors scientists who have made groundbreaking advances in basic nicotine research in the areas of pharmacology, neuroscience and/or genetics. The award is only given triennially, and will be presented to Dr. Laura Bierut next February in Baltimore at the SRNT Annual meeting.
